Bulgaria police seize large fentanyl stock in twin operations

Bulgarian law‑enforcement agencies carried out two coordinated actions that uncovered substantial amounts of the synthetic opioid fentanyl. In the town of Peshtera, police searched a private house and seized 23 packets of a brown powder that tested positive for fentanyl, alongside illegal clothing, perfume and untaxed tobacco. The operation involved regional police, traffic police, specialized tactical units and economic police, resulting in multiple arrests and the inspection of hundreds of vehicles and individuals.

A separate raid on the Trakia highway near the village of Tri Listnik intercepted a passenger car heading to the Black Sea coast. Criminal investigators found a package containing 505 grams of pure fentanyl, one of the largest single‑seizures reported in the country, and detained the driver and a passenger. Both cases have been forwarded to the Plovdiv district prosecutor for further proceedings.
