Bulgaria recovers 245 million euros in military aid for Ukraine
Bulgarian Defense Minister Dimitar Stoyanov announced that Bulgaria has recovered over 245 million euros in military and military-technical assistance provided to Ukraine between 2022 and October 2026.
Of this amount, approximately 5.1 million euros were received through the European Peace Facility, while 240.1 million euros came via agreements with allied nations. The Minister noted that while 11 packages of ammunition and weaponry worth nearly 340 million euros have been sent to Ukraine, Bulgaria has not received compensation for armored transport vehicles provided by the Ministry of Interior, as officials determined those costs are not subject to reimbursement.
Separately, reports regarding United States aid indicate that approximately 14.3 billion dollars of the approved Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI) funds had not been covered by deliveries as of August 2026. While 33.51 billion dollars were allocated under the program since 2022, only about 57.3 percent has been delivered in equipment and services. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine is still owed roughly 16 billion dollars from various previous U.S. agreements.
