Bulgaria road networks face restrictions and weather alerts

Bulgaria is experiencing significant road disruptions due to maintenance, accidents, and weather warnings. On the Hemus Motorway, traffic in the Shumen region is restricted between km 350 and km 363 due to the installation of limiting systems, with traffic moving in both directions on the lane toward Varna. Additionally, vehicles exceeding 12.5 tons are prohibited between the Boaza and Dermantsi junctions in the Lovech region.

On the Trakia Motorway, a traffic accident near km 24 and smoke from burning vegetation near km 80 are affecting movement toward Sofia. The Maritsa Motorway also faces restrictions near the Kapitan Andreevo border crossing due to expansion joint repairs. On route III-20, vehicles over 10 tons are barred from crossing a bridge over the Cherni Lom due to its condition.

Border crossing wait times toward Turkey vary, with approximately 25 minutes at Lesovo, 50 minutes at Kapitan Andreevo, and over 8 hours at Malko Tarnovo.

Weather alerts have been issued, including an orange code for heavy rainfall in several regions such as Dobrich, Shumen, Varna, and Burgas. In mountainous areas, rain and snow are expected above 2,000 meters, with potential changes in visibility and path conditions.
