Bulgaria road repairs: Sofia–Pernik route and Hemus motorway updates

Road repairs are scheduled to begin on the Sofia–Pernik route near Vlaya on November 2. The project will last approximately three weeks and involve refreshing a 3-kilometer section. To manage traffic, authorities will implement reversible lanes during peak hours, and the Road Police recommend drivers use the Struma motorway as an alternative.

On the Hemus motorway, repairs continue at the Topli Dol tunnel. Traffic is currently being directed in both directions through the Varna-bound tube, with one lane allocated for each direction. This tunnel project is expected to be completed by April 2027. Additionally, on November 2, restrictions will apply to trucks exceeding 12 tons between the Sofia exit and the Botevgrad junction during the hours of 07:00 and 09:00.

Other regional updates include the temporary suspension of the Oryahovo–Becket and Svishtov–Zimnice ferry connections due to low Danube River levels. In the mountains, meteorologists predict rain and snow at altitudes above 1800–2000 meters, warning tourists of slippery conditions and strong winds.
