Bulgaria is facing a significant heatwave, with the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH) issuing orange and yellow weather alerts across most of the country. Orange alerts have been designated for several regions, including Montana, Vidin, Vratsa, Pleven, Pazardzhik, Plovdiv, Kyustendil, and Blagoevgrad, as well as other central and western areas.

Temperatures are forecast to range between 33°C and 38°C, with some areas potentially reaching 40°C. Meteorologists warn of high humidity causing discomfort and potential health risks. In addition to the heat, there is a risk of localized thunderstorms, short-term rainfall, and hail, particularly in western, northern, and eastern parts of the country.

Meteorologist Petar Yankov noted that temperatures exceeding 33°C can impact flight operations, while Anastasia Kirilova highlighted that the first signs of weather shifts, such as thunderstorms, are expected to manifest on Sunday.
