Bulgaria signs declaration to deepen Ukraine support and pursue joint drone production

Bulgarian Foreign Minister Velislava Petrova‑Chamova visited Kyiv and signed a declaration committing Bulgaria to increase its participation in the “Coalition of the Willing”. The document pledges continued political, military, financial and security assistance to Ukraine, calls for heightened pressure on Russia, and affirms Bulgaria’s readiness to help rebuild the war‑torn country.

During the same visit Petrova‑Chamova announced Bulgaria’s interest in cooperating with Ukraine on the joint production of drones, citing Ukraine’s advanced experience in the sector and the potential to transfer technology to modernise the Bulgarian armed forces. The signing ceremony was attended by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and other regional leaders. Serbia was the only invited country that did not sign the declaration.

The move follows Prime Minister Rumen Radev’s earlier statement that Bulgaria had no place in the coalition, signalling a shift in Sofia’s policy toward a more active role in supporting Kyiv.
