Bulgaria supports European Space Shield at EU defense meeting

A Bulgarian delegation, led by Deputy Minister of Defense Lyubomir Monov, participated in an informal meeting of EU defense ministers held in Wicklow, Ireland, on August 31 and September 1. The forum focused on the development of EU military support for Ukraine and cooperation within the defense industry.

Discussions included the future of the EU Military Assistance Mission to Ukraine (EUMAM Ukraine) and the implementation of the EU Security and Defense Strategy in space. Deputy Minister Monov emphasized Bulgaria’s commitment to supporting Ukraine and expressed support for the European Space Shield, describing space as a decisive strategic factor for European defense readiness, resilience, and strategic autonomy.
