Bulgaria to launch automatic 50 euro inflation checks

The Bulgarian government is launching the ‘Inflation Check’ program to provide a one-time 50 euro payment to help vulnerable citizens cope with rising costs for fuel, utilities, and basic food items. Starting October 1, 2026, the Social Assistance Agency (ASP) will distribute these funds automatically based on existing records, meaning no applications are required.

The assistance targets over 550,000 individuals and households, including those living below the poverty line, recipients of heating assistance, families caring for children with permanent disabilities, orphans receiving family benefits, and military invalids. If an individual qualifies under multiple categories, they will receive the payment only once.

Payments will be transferred directly to bank accounts starting October 1, 2026. For those receiving funds via post offices, the distribution will occur in three periods: October 1–26, 2026; November 16–26, 2026; and December 15–23, 2026.
