Bulgaria to provide 35 million euros in support for viticulture sector

Bulgaria's Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food, Yanislav Yanchev, has announced upcoming financial support for the country's viticulture sector. While noting a strong harvest across all agricultural products this year, Yanchev highlighted that market stability and achieving prices that cover production costs remain significant challenges for growers.

The government aims to provide a total of 35 million euros in support through various mechanisms, including liquidity interventions and specific aid programs. Additionally, the Ministry is expanding climate-related assistance; while previous aid was limited to areas with 100% crop destruction, new measures will allow compensation for farms experiencing losses exceeding 30% due to adverse weather.

To protect domestic producers, the Ministry is also working with the Customs Agency and the National Revenue Agency to curb unfair practices regarding grape imports. Authorities are conducting inspections on transport vehicles to verify declared production values and will share documentation with relevant foreign countries to ensure compliance.
