Bulgaria weather warning issued for thunderstorms and hail

The National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH) has issued a yellow code warning for several regions in Bulgaria due to potential thunderstorms, rain, and hail. The warning applies specifically to the Blagoevgrad, Smolyan, Pazardzhik, and Sofia-region areas.

While much of the country will experience sunny weather with temperatures ranging between 30°C and 35°C, convective cloudiness is expected to develop in the afternoons. This may lead to brief rain showers and thunderstorms, particularly in Southwestern and Central Southern Bulgaria, as well as in the Rila-Rhodope mountain region.

In the mountains, temperatures at 1200 meters are expected to be around 26°C-27°C, and 18°C-19°C at 2000 meters. Along the Black Sea coast, conditions will remain mostly sunny with temperatures between 28°C and 32°C and sea wave heights of 3-4 balkas. Meteorologists indicate that while temperatures remain high, a significant cooling period is not expected until approximately August 17-18.
