Bulgaria issues yellow weather code for strong winds
Bulgaria is facing unsettled weather conditions with significant wind warnings issued for several regions. A yellow code for strong winds has been announced for areas including Burgas, Varna, Dobrich, Yambol, Haskovo, and Kardzhali. Wind speeds are expected to reach 14-19 m/s, with gusts potentially hitting up to 24 m/s (approximately 90 km/h), particularly in eastern and southeastern parts of the country.
Weather patterns show a divide across the nation: Northern Bulgaria is expected to see clearing skies and mostly sunny weather, while southern and southeastern regions may experience cloudiness and isolated light rain. In the mountains, particularly in southern massifs, clouds will persist with light rain possible, transitioning to light snow at altitudes above 2200 meters.
The Black Sea coast will experience moderate to strong northeast winds, with sea swells reaching 3 to 4 bala. Temperatures are forecasted to range between 19°C and 24°C across much of the country, with Sofia seeing highs around 20°C. A cooling trend is expected in the coming days, with potential for frost in some western Bulgarian valleys.
