Bulgaria weather forecast predicts heat and afternoon storms
Bulgaria is experiencing a transition in weather patterns as summer temperatures persist alongside increasing storm activity. Forecasters predict sunny conditions for much of the country, but convective clouds are expected to develop in the afternoons, particularly in Southwestern Bulgaria. These clouds may lead to short-lived but intense rain, thunderstorms, and potential hail.
Temperatures are expected to remain high, with daytime maximums ranging between 29°C and 36°C in various regions, including Sofia. The Black Sea coast will remain largely sunny with temperatures between 25°C and 30°C and sea water temperatures around 24°C to 26°C.
A cold atmospheric front is expected to move through the country later in the week, bringing more dynamic weather, increased wind, and a gradual decrease in temperatures. Meteorologist Petar Yankov noted that while the first part of September will remain hot and dry, a shift toward more frequent rainfall from the west is anticipated after September 9.
