Bulgaria weather: Unusually warm temperatures followed by storms

Bulgaria is experiencing unseasonably warm weather for late October, with daytime temperatures reaching between 21°C and 26°C. Much of the country is seeing sunny conditions, though morning fog has been reported in low-lying areas, the Danube river basin, and along the Black Sea coast.

A shift in weather is expected later in the week. By Thursday, cloud cover will increase, particularly in Western Bulgaria, with rain expected by the evening. A significant change will occur on Friday as a cold atmospheric front moves through the country. This front is forecasted to bring intense rainfall and thunderstorms, especially in Northwestern Bulgaria. In Central and Eastern Bulgaria, rainfall may also be significant in certain areas.

Following the front on Friday, temperatures are expected to drop by approximately 5-6°C, with daytime highs falling to between 14°C and 19°C. Winds are expected to shift to the northwest as the cold air moves in.
