Bulgarian driver Nikola Tsolov locked into 2027 F1 seat with Racing Bulls

Bulgarian Formula 2 driver Nikola Tsolov, a member of the Red Bull junior programme, has reportedly secured a guaranteed race seat for the 2027 Formula 1 season with the Red Bull satellite team Racing Bulls.

The arrangement, cited by Spanish motorsport outlet Soy Motor, depends on the future of current Red Bull driver Max Verstappen. If Verstappen remains with Red Bull, Racing Bulls is expected to release driver Liam Lawson; if Verstappen departs, additional options may open.

Tsolov’s promotion follows strong performances in the junior categories: dominance in Spanish F4, a runner‑up finish in Formula 3, and three race wins—including a main race victory in Australia—and a sprint win in Miami during his debut F2 season, leaving him second in the championship, six points behind the leader.

Formerly represented by Fernando Alonso’s A14 Management, Tsolov’s development was highlighted by Alonso’s mentorship. Formal confirmation will follow once Tsolov obtains the required FIA super licence.
