Bulgarian man drowns near Kavala, Greece

A 73-year-old Bulgarian man drowned at a beach near Kavala, Greece, on a Saturday morning. The Central Port Authority of Kavala is conducting a preliminary investigation and has ordered an autopsy through the Kavala Judicial Service.

This incident follows a series of fatal accidents involving Bulgarian citizens at Greek beaches in recent months. On September 6, a 55-year-old Bulgarian man died after losing consciousness while exiting the sea at Potamos beach in Epanomi, Thessaloniki. In late August, a 58-year-old Bulgarian man drowned at Erasmio beach near Xanthi. Additionally, in late July, two 73-year-old Bulgarian citizens were reported drowned within a 24-hour period in the Alexandroupolis area.

In response to these fatalities, Greek rescue services and health organizations have issued reminders for older tourists to avoid entering the sea during heavy swells, when feeling physical discomfort, or immediately after eating.
