Bulgarian Ministry of Health launches mobile medical clinics
The Bulgarian Ministry of Health is deploying mobile medical cabinets to 17 regions across the country to conduct 1,435 preventive examinations and tests. The initiative aims to improve access to healthcare in areas where timely diagnosis and prevention are difficult to reach, specifically targeting vulnerable communities and families in difficult social situations.
The program focuses on maternal and child health, early disease detection, and immunizations. Key components include:
• 360 obstetric-gynecological examinations in Pazardzhik, Sliven, Sofia, and Targovishte. • 500 pediatric examinations in Kyustendil, Silistra, Burgas, and Sliven. • General practice visits and immunizations for individuals under 18 in Varna, Pleven, Vidin, and Vratsa. • 170 fluorograph examinations in Sliven and Blagoevgrad. • 195 ultrasound examinations in Shumen, Stara Zagora, and Vratsa. • 210 laboratory tests, including blood counts, glucose, and cholesterol, in Stara Zagora, Dobrich, and Vidin.
Under the order of Minister Katya Ivkova, the mobile units are provided free of charge, with the ministry financing the medical activities. The initiative is part of the Healthcare priority in the National Action Plan 2024–2027, aligned with the National Strategy for Equality, Inclusion, and Participation of Roma for 2021–2030.
