Bulgarian MP Delian Dobrev Submits Resignation from Parliament

Delian Dobrev, a longtime member of the GERB‑SDS bloc, filed a request to terminate his mandate as a deputy in Bulgaria's 52nd National Assembly. The resignation document was entered into parliamentary paperwork today and is expected to be debated and voted on in the plenary chamber later this week.

Dobrev said he is stepping down after about 20 years of public service to give younger politicians a chance to lead. He thanked party leader Boyko Borisov for his support and noted he will continue to help and participate in party activities despite leaving the front line of politics. Throughout his career he has served on the Economic Policy, Budget and Finance committees and chaired the Energy Committee.
