Bulgarian National Bank releases 10‑euro silver collector coin honoring Preobrazhenski Monastery
On 3 August, the Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) began issuing a 10‑euro silver collector coin dedicated to the Preobrazhenski Monastery, part of its "Bulgarian Churches and Monasteries" series. The coin, minted for the 2026 issue, is struck in 999/1000 fine silver, weighs 23.33 g, measures 38.61 mm in diameter and has a limited mintage of 5,000 pieces. It is priced at €132 (≈258 lev) and can be purchased only once per customer, with buyers required to be at least 18 years old. Sales are conducted at four BNB cash desks in Sofia and through partner banks including Investbank AD, First Investment Bank AD, Texim Bank AD, Tokuda Bank AD, Municipal Bank AD and Central Cooperative Bank AD, as well as at the Mint.
The obverse features a stylised image of Zahari Zograf’s fresco “The Wheel of Life” from the monastery, while the reverse depicts the monastery complex itself. The design was created by artist Svetlin Balezdrov. This issue is the fourth collector coin BNB has released in the current year.
