Bulgarian Parliament approves new agricultural support rules

The Bulgarian Parliament has passed amendments to the agricultural support law. A key provision allows the State Fund Agriculture to provide assistance to producers facing adverse climatic events through the Mutual Aid Fund.

Under the new regulations, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food is authorized to provide targeted financial resources to agricultural producer associations and national unions of agricultural cooperatives. These funds are intended to cover the state's membership contributions to representative organizations at European and global levels. The funding must be used exclusively for non-economic activities related to the representation and protection of the interests of Bulgarian agricultural producers.

Additionally, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food is tasked with creating and maintaining a database for areas covered by greenhouses, nurseries, and permanent crops within one year. A verification of existing areas is scheduled to be completed by May 31, 2027, involving representatives from regional agriculture directorates and agricultural experts.
