Bulgarian Posts to continue pension payments until 2031
The Bulgarian Council of Ministers has extended the mandate for Bulgarian Posts to continue distributing pensions through its postal station network until June 30, 2031. This decision extends the previous obligation, which was set to expire in mid-2025, by an additional five years.
A key component of the decision is the increase in the annual cap for state aid to compensate the company for the costs of this public service. The ceiling has been raised from 15 million euros to 20 million euros per year. This amount is a maximum limit for reimbursing expenses such as cashier salaries, cash transport, security, and the maintenance of the postal station network, rather than a guaranteed annual subsidy.
The terms for pensioners remain unchanged. Payments and supplements can be collected at any postal station, though receiving funds in a location other than one's registered address requires a prior application. Payments are scheduled between the 7th and 20th of each month. Additionally, individuals aged 68 and older, as well as those receiving pensions for permanent disability, may request home delivery after applying to the postmaster. The service also covers payments to individuals in social institutions and those deprived of liberty.
