Bulgarian tourist dies at Ammolofoi beach in Kavala
A 65-year-old Bulgarian national died after being pulled unconscious from the sea at Ammolofoi beach in the Pangeo area of Kavala on Sunday, August 9, 2026.
Local lifeguards and EKAB rescuers provided immediate first aid and performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), but the efforts were unsuccessful. The woman was transported by ambulance to Kavala General Hospital, where medical staff confirmed her death.
The Central Port Authority of Kavala has launched a preliminary investigation into the incident and has ordered an autopsy to be conducted by the Forensic Service of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace to determine the exact cause of death.
