Bulgarian volunteer association launches fire readiness initiative
The National Association of Volunteers in the Republic of Bulgaria (NADRB) has launched a large-scale initiative to improve fire response readiness in over 100 small towns and villages across the country. The project targets regions including Blagoevgrad, Sofia, Haskovo, Lovech, and Pazardzhik.
Supported by the Coca-Cola HBC Foundation, the initiative focuses on prevention, preparation, and community capacity to take initial action during fires. Key components include the construction of fire depots equipped with necessary tools for local firefighting groups and the distribution of practical prevention guidelines.
Additionally, the NADRB is conducting training sessions for mayors and local administration representatives to organize responses to forest fires. Dr. Yasen Tsvetkov, Chairman of the NADRB Management Board, emphasized that investing in prevention and knowledge is the most effective way to protect people, homes, and nature, particularly in smaller settlements where early organization is critical.
