Bulgarian woman dies after husband sets her on fire in Medovets

Fadeze Shakir Ahmed has died from severe burns sustained after being doused with flammable liquid and set on fire by her husband in the village of Medovets, near Varna. The incident occurred in late July following a domestic dispute involving alcohol.

Ahmed was treated at a military hospital in Varna with approximately 40% burns. Despite emergency blood donation drives organized by the Regional Center for Transfusion Hematology in Medovets, she succumbed to her injuries.

The victim's 48-year-old husband, Ismail Ahmed, was previously detained and charged with attempted murder committed in an especially cruel manner. Following the victim's death, the Varna District Prosecutor's Office is expected to upgrade the charges to murder.
