In July 2026, a 48-year-old man from Medovec, Varna Province, was charged with attempted murder after police say he poured gasoline on his wife during a drunken domestic dispute and set her ablaze. The victim, identified as Fadeze Shakir Ahmed, suffered second- and third-degree burns covering approximately 40% of her body.
