Bull Fire burns 1,274 acres near California-Nevada border
The Bull Fire, a human-caused vegetation fire, has burned approximately 1,274 acres near the California-Nevada state line. The fire is located north of Verdi and west of Dog Valley in Washoe County.
Authorities from the Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District reported that the fire has reached 40 percent containment. Approximately 250 personnel, including hand crews, dozers, engines, and aviation resources, are assigned to the response. Firefighters have utilized helicopters for water drops and applied retardant near the Hawk Fire burn scar to prevent further spread.
Evacuation orders remain in effect for one structure within the fire perimeter, while several structures at the base of Eviden Mountain are under a “ready” evacuation status. Washoe County previously issued evacuation warnings for areas north of Interstate 80, extending from Somersett Ridge Drive to the California border. No reportable injuries have been recorded.
