Wildfires near California-Nevada border

Overview

The blaze caused the closure of westbound Interstate 80 from the Nevada state line to the Verdi/Boomtown area and prompted evacuation orders and warnings in Nevada and Sierra counties.

By early October, the Bull Fire, described as a human-caused vegetation fire, had burned approximately 1,274 acres in Washoe County, north of Verdi.
