Bundespolizei seize weapons during A6 border check
The German Federal Police (Bundespolizei) seized three weapons from a vehicle during a checkpoint on the A6 motorway near Waidhaus. The driver, a 48-year-old man from Eastern Europe, was traveling from the Czech Republic into Germany when he was stopped at the border control point.
Although the driver denied carrying any prohibited or dangerous items, a search of the vehicle revealed a telescopic baton in the driver-side door compartment, an irritant spray device in an overhead compartment, and a combat knife next to the driver's seat. Authorities stated that the driver could have accessed these weapons at any time. An investigation into violations of the Weapons Act has been initiated, and the weapons were confiscated.
