Burgas authorities seize 340 kg of cocaine and marijuana
Bulgarian authorities have seized over 340 kilograms of cocaine and marijuana in a major drug trafficking operation at the entrance of Burgas. The drugs, which have an estimated value exceeding 15 million euros, were discovered inside a cargo truck with Sofia registration during a specialized operation on Friday.
Upon inspection of the vehicle's cargo area, officials found 110 packages of a white powder testing positive for cocaine and 230 packages of herbal mass testing positive for marijuana. Each package weighed approximately one kilogram. Preliminary investigations suggest the narcotics were destined for Turkey.
A 40-year-old Bulgarian driver from Sofia has been detained and charged with possession of high-risk narcotic substances for distribution. While the driver was reportedly hired to transport the goods, authorities believe he may not have been aware of the full scope of the smuggling scheme. The Bulgarian Border Police noted that the operation was the result of months of intelligence gathering and analysis.
