In Plovdiv, experts report that approximately 95% of street drugs are now fentanyl, with heroin becoming nearly non-existent. This fentanyl is often produced by amateur chemists using Chinese precursors and is frequently diluted with paracetamol or caffeine, creating a “Russian roulette” scenario for users. Additionally, cocaine laced with fentanyl is entering the country.

Investigations into international trafficking continue, including a case involving the disappearance of 160 kg of cocaine with suspected links to businesses associated with the late Iliyan Filipov. In the Sandanski municipality, police seized nearly 2 kg of heroin in Polebnitsa, leading to the detention of a suspect with a prior criminal record. These developments follow leadership changes within the Ministry of Interior aimed at purging “unacceptable ties” to criminal structures.
