Burkina Faso advances reforestation through school plantings and plant sales
Environmental initiatives are underway in Burkina Faso to promote reforestation and environmental protection. In the Bougouriba/Dolo region, the departmental Water and Forests service planted 150 trees at the Gnonnan Kam departmental high school in Dolo and the Saptan General Education College (CEG). This operation aims to compensate for trees uprooted during road construction between Milkpo and Dolo. The project was supported by teachers, students, parents, and local volunteers.
Additionally, the Centre de Formation Professionnelle aux Métiers Émergents Bangr Nooma (CFP-MEB) has launched a promotional sale of plants running until September 30, 2026. The center is offering various species, including exotic types like teak and flamboyant, as well as indigenous species such as baobab and neem, starting at 500 FCFA. This initiative supports national reforestation efforts and aims to make tree planting more accessible to families, schools, and businesses.
