Burkina Faso and Chad implement new social and agricultural strategies

In Burkina Faso, the Ministry of Family and Solidarity, supported by the United Nations Population Fund, has validated the national gender strategy for 2026–2030 and an operational action plan for 2026–2028. The initiative aims to reduce inequalities between men and women and serve as a reference framework for public policies and development projects. The strategy was developed through a participatory process involving local authorities, NGOs, and technical partners to address persistent challenges identified in previous evaluations.

In Chad, the NGO Nirvana and the Observatory of Human Rights and Development held a workshop in Abéché to integrate agricultural statistics from refugee hosting areas into the national system. The workshop focused on improving data quality regarding the livelihoods and agricultural activities of both refugee populations and host communities in the Sila, Ouaddaï, and Ennedi Est regions. This effort aligns with Chad’s commitment to the Global Compact on Refugees by promoting the inclusion of refugees in national systems such as health, education, and agriculture to bolster food security.
