Burkina Faso has announced several large-scale strategic initiatives aimed at food and energy sovereignty. The government has launched an irrigation operation to develop 50,000 hectares of irrigated perimeters, supported by a budget of 254.79 billion FCFA. This plan includes terracing 60,000 hectares between November 2026 and April 2027 to mitigate the impact of climate variability.

In the energy sector, the Council of Ministers adopted the 'Faso Wa-Fulu' Presidential Initiative for Energy for All. This 10-year program, costing over 2,800 billion FCFA, aims to provide universal electricity access by 2030. The initiative targets the electrification of 6,700 new localities and providing energy services to approximately 17.9 million people through the deployment of 44 electrification brigades.

Additionally, the government has established the Société viticole du Burkina Faso (SOVIB), a state-majority mixed economy company, to bolster the local industry.
