Burkina Faso communities launch reforestation and civic initiatives

In the Boulgou province of Burkina Faso, local youth and civic groups have launched environmental and community service initiatives. In the village of Guimsim, located in the Zonsé commune, young people organized a reforestation day to restore the local vegetation cover. Supported by local authorities and community members, they planted various species including neem, mango, and caïlcédrat trees along the Guimsim-Ponga axis and in dedicated sites. This effort follows the removal of trees during recent road rehabilitation work.

Simultaneously, in the Zabré commune, participants from the 2026 mandatory patriotic immersion program (IPO) conducted a day of civic action. Their activities included sanitation operations, reforestation at the Zabré Medical Center with surgical antenna, and visits to support local patients. These actions were intended to apply the values learned during their training and demonstrate commitment to national development and sovereignty.
