Burkina Faso promotes civic training and patriotism through youth initiatives

Burkina Faso is intensifying efforts to foster patriotism and civic responsibility among its youth through various educational and military-style programs. In Ouagadougou, director Richard Tiéné presented the documentary ‘Immersion patriotique obligatoire: serment d’une génération’, which chronicles the 30-day mandatory civic, patriotic, and military training for recent high school graduates. The film aims to document the experience and reassure parents regarding the training conditions provided under the leadership of President Ibrahim Traoré.

Complementing these efforts, the Delegation to Veterans and Former Military (DACAM) held a conference at Aube Nouvelle University. Retired military officers, including Brigadier General Moise Mininougou, shared experiences of resilience and engagement to provide students with life lessons and historical perspectives.

Additionally, in Dédougou, Minister of Secondary Education Moumouni Zoungrana addressed over 700 students regarding the ‘Progressive Popular Revolution’. The initiative focuses on using discipline, order, and patriotism as the foundation for a new model of citizenship to support the nation's current challenges.
