Burkina Faso patriotic engagement initiatives
Overview
Burkina Faso has implemented several programs aimed at fostering national identity, sovereignty, and civic responsibility. In early October 2026, the government conducted the second phase of the Days of Patriotic Engagement and Citizen Participation (JEPPC). These activities included public conferences in Koupéla regarding national symbols and honorary distinctions, as well as ceremonies in Cassou promoting the ‘Made in Burkina’ initiative to encourage economic sovereignty.
By late October 2026, the focus expanded toward youth-oriented civic and military training. In Ouagadougou, efforts were made to document mandatory 30-day patriotic and military training programs for high school graduates. Concurrently, educational institutions hosted conferences featuring retired military officers to share lessons on resilience, while government officials in Dédougou promoted the ‘Progressive Popular Revolution’ to establish a new model of citizenship based on discipline and patriotism.
