Burkina Faso Health Minister commends sanitation efforts to combat malaria

Burkina Faso’s Minister of Health, Dr. Robert Lucien Kargougou, visited the Brigade Laabal to commend its sanitation efforts aimed at malaria prevention. During the visit on August 21, 2026, the Minister inspected the brigade’s alert reception platform and observed gutter cleaning operations in progress.

Dr. Kargougou noted that maintaining urban hygiene and cleaning gutters directly reduces mosquito breeding sites, thereby preventing malaria and other vector-borne diseases. The sanitation works involve individuals in conflict with the law participating in collective interest activities. The Minister praised both the Brigade Laabal and the Presidential Initiative for Community Development for improving living conditions and reducing larval habitats.
