Burkina Faso inaugurates TEXFORCES-BF textile complex
President Ibrahim Traoré inaugurated the TEXFORCES-BF textile complex in Bobo-Dioulasso on September 9, 2026. The industrial facility is designed to increase local cotton processing and reduce reliance on imports by producing fabrics and clothing for both the national defense forces and the civilian market.
The complex features integrated lines for spinning, weaving, knitting, finishing, and dyeing. At full capacity, the site aims to transform up to 50,000 tonnes of cotton annually, producing 100 million meters of fabric and over 20 million finished items, including uniforms, T-shirts, and socks.
Economically, the project is expected to create 20,000 direct jobs and 60,000 indirect jobs, providing opportunities for approximately 80,000 young Burkinabè. With a social capital of 17 billion CFA francs, the facility seeks to strengthen the national value chain and stimulate local subcontracting within the Guiriko region and across Burkina Faso.
