Burkina Faso initiatives target conflict management and security cooperation in Gourma

In the Gourma province of Burkina Faso, initiatives are underway to strengthen social cohesion and security cooperation. In Fada N’Gourma, a 48-hour training workshop was held for members of community conflict prevention and management observatories from Fada N’Gourma and Diapangou. Led by High Commissioner Silas Nacanabo, the training focused on identifying conflict risks, analyzing causes, and utilizing the National Observatory for the Prevention and Management of Community Conflicts (ONAPREGECC) to facilitate peaceful resolutions.

Additionally, the Rassemblement des intelligences pour la souveraineté de l’Afrique (RISA) hosted a public civil-military conference in Fada N’Gourma. The event aimed to enhance collaboration between combatant forces—including the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP)—and local populations. The goal is to improve information sharing and collective security efforts to support the reconquest of the Goulmou, Sirba, and Tapoa regions against terrorist threats.
