Burkina Faso launches regional reforestation campaigns

Burkina Faso has launched regional reforestation initiatives under the theme ‘One institution, one grove’ to combat significant forest loss. In the Guiriko region, the campaign officially commenced at the Nazi-Boni University grove in Bobo-Dioulasso. Governor Mariama Konaté emphasized that the university site will serve as a natural laboratory for scientific research and student training, setting a survival target of at least 75% for the new plants.

Simultaneously, in the Ioba province, more than 510 trees were planted in the Goran provincial grove in Guéguéré. Local authorities, including Ioba Provincial Secretary General André Lankoandé, joined community and religious leaders to mark the provincial tree day. Participants, including representatives from Burkina Mine, stressed the importance of not just planting trees but ensuring their long-term protection and maintenance to restore the country's degraded vegetation cover.
