Burkina Faso leads CAMES academic rankings amid university modernization

Burkina Faso has secured the top position in the ranking of member countries for the second consecutive year following the 48th session of the Inter-African Advisory Committees (CCI) of the African and Malagasy Council for Higher Education (CAMES). Held in Equatorial Guinea, the session resulted in a 95.81% success rate for the country, with 412 candidates admitted to various academic and scientific lists, up from 318 in 2025.

Parallel to these academic achievements, Burkina Faso is undergoing a modernization of its university infrastructure. Efforts to address classroom shortages include the completion of a new 1,200-seat amphitheater at Nazi Boni University in Sya. These physical improvements are part of a broader strategy to stabilize academic calendars and normalize university programs, which saw the rate of normalized tracks increase from 81.31% in October 2024 to 98.44% by July 2026.
