Burkina Faso opens regional police and child‑protection units in Liptako

On 31 July 2026, Minister of Security Mahamadou Sana inaugurated two new security structures in Dori, Burkina Faso: the Service régional de Police judiciaire (SRPJ) and the Brigade régionale de protection de l’enfance (BRPE). The facilities, built on the national road 24 in sector 5, are intended to boost investigative capacity against terrorist networks and to safeguard children from forced recruitment, trafficking and other abuses.

Sana stressed that impunity would find no refuge in Liptako and highlighted the projects as part of President Ibrahim Traoré’s broader effort to reinforce state authority. Local officials, including Fatimata Dicko, vice‑president of Dori’s special delegation, praised the initiative as essential for justice, security and child welfare. Police regional director Namanga Traoré noted that the new buildings will increase operational capacity and improve service delivery for the population. Technical and financial partners also contributed to the construction of the new infrastructure.
