Burkina Faso Prime Minister meets new UN Resident Coordinator

Burkina Faso Prime Minister Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo met with the new United Nations Resident Coordinator, Njoya Tikum, on August 31, 2026, to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation.

The discussions focused on aligning the new UN Cooperation Framework with the government’s RELANCE 2026-2030 Plan, which serves as the nation's new development reference. The Prime Minister emphasized that international cooperation must respect national sovereignty and strictly follow the government's strategic choices to ensure tangible results for the population.

Njoya Tikum expressed full support for these national priorities, stating, “We reaffirm the availability of the entire United Nations System to accompany Burkina Faso, in accordance with its priorities.” The Resident Coordinator also advocated for increased synergy between various UN agencies to optimize resources and ensure coordinated, impactful interventions on the ground.
