Burkina Faso Prime Minister Rimtalba Ouédraogo reports public‑sector financial gains and launches Kokologho dam rehab

On 31 July 2026 the 27ᵉ Assemblée générale des Établissements publics de l’État was held in Ouagadougou. Prime Minister Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo presented the 2025 financial results of 106 public establishments. The 88 classic establishments generated 518.6 billion FCFA in revenue against 405.6 billion FCFA in expenses, leaving a cash balance of 172.3 billion FCFA and a self‑financing rate of 27.88 %. National funds mobilised 371.8 billion FCFA and injected 314.7 billion FCFA, achieving a self‑financing rate of 111.27 %, well above the 20 % benchmark. The Prime Minister stressed that financial performance must translate into better public services and higher citizen satisfaction.

The following day, 1 August 2026, the rehabilitated Kokologho dam in Boulkiemdé province was filled for the first time in 18 years. Fully funded by the 2025 state budget and restored by the Office National des Barrages et des Aménagements Hydroagricoles (ONBAH) in three months, the dam’s storage capacity now exceeds 806 000 m³. It will irrigate about 25 ha of land, supporting vegetable, rice, maize, fish and aquaculture production, creating jobs for youth and women, recharging groundwater and protecting local ecosystems. The Prime Minister praised the speed and quality of the work and highlighted its contribution to food security and economic development.
