Burkina Faso development initiatives under PM Ouédraogo

In late July 2026, Burkina Faso’s government, led by Prime Minister Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo, reviewed progress on two flagship growth‑pole projects: the Integrated Pharmaceutical Technopole at Kokologho and an oilseed processing hub in Bobo‑Dioulasso. The Prime Minister highlighted the strategic aim of reducing import dependence, creating jobs, and industrialising domestic resources, while noting financing, legal and logistical bottlenecks and issuing recommendations to accelerate implementation.

A few days later, the same administration presented strong public‑sector financial results for 2025, emphasizing a high self‑financing rate and the need to translate fiscal gains into better public services. The following day, the rehabilitated Kokologho dam was filled for the first time in 18 years, expanding irrigation capacity for 25 ha of crops and aquaculture, and supporting food security, youth and women employment, and ecosystem protection. Together, the snapshots illustrate a coordinated push to boost industrial capacity, improve public‑sector finances, and deliver critical infrastructure to underpin Burkina Faso’s economic development.
