Burkina Faso ministries report mid‑year performance of 2026 contracts of objectives

On 24 July 2026, Burkina Faso’s government presented mid‑year assessments of its 2026 contracts of objectives across several ministries. The Ministry of Security, led by Commissioner Mahamadou Sana, recorded a 62.81 % execution rate and announced a “zero‑tolerance” policy for corruption, stating that any security officer caught taking money will be dismissed. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, headed by Karamogo Jean Marie Traoré, achieved a 55.08 % overall execution rate, with notable progress in territorial defence (83.12 %) and regional integration (52 %). The Ministry of Basic Education reported a 63.08 % execution rate and highlighted a 95.23 % national success rate for the Primary Certificate exam, with many classes reaching 100 % pass rates. The Ministry of Higher Education, research and innovation, represented by Professor Adjima Thiombiano, posted a 55.86 % performance score, noting reforms in licensing, university governance and research collaborations. Across the cabinet, the Prime Minister Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo oversaw the evaluations, emphasizing continued mobilisation to meet year‑end targets.
