Burkina Faso security shifts in Zecco and Bogandé
In Zecco, Burkina Faso, the Gendarmerie nationale has officially taken over security responsibilities from the Police nationale. This transition, part of a broader internal security reorganization, marks the end of 45 years of police service in the rural commune. During a ceremony led by Etienne Sanglan, the President of the Special Delegation, the outgoing police unit was honored for its service since 1982.
In Bogandé, over a thousand citizens participated in a large-scale cleaning and clearing operation in the Ouadangou area. Volunteers worked to remove dense vegetation and prune trees along roads and near positions held by combatant forces. The initiative, supervised by officers from the BIR 19, aims to improve visibility and prevent potential infiltrations by clearing areas that could serve as cover.
Both events reflect local efforts to adapt security measures and enhance surveillance through institutional reorganization and community cooperation.
