Burkina Faso universities reach 99.69% academic normalization

Burkina Faso’s Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation has reported that 99.69% of academic programs in public universities have successfully normalized their schedules. As of August 31, 2026, 320 out of 321 monitored programs are up to date.

Minister Adjima Thiombiano noted that the pharmacy program at Joseph KI-ZERBO University is the final track undergoing normalization, with its academic year expected to conclude by September 21, 2026. The ministry aims for 100% normalization for the 2026-2027 academic year, with all programs scheduled to begin instruction on October 1, 2026.

This progress follows a steady increase in normalization rates, which rose from 81.31% in October 2024 to the current near-total completion. The ministry attributed these results to improved statistical management and increased dialogue with university stakeholders.
