Bursa commemorates 649th Geyikli Baba tradition in Kestel

The annual Geyikli Baba commemoration was held on the 649th occasion in Babasultan neighbourhood of Kestel district, Bursa, Turkey. The program featured a performance by the Bursa Kayı Mehter Team, Qur'an recitation, hymns and an archery demonstration that attracted considerable public interest. At the close of the ceremony, tons of pilaf prepared according to tradition were distributed to attending citizens.

Local officials, including Kestel Mayor Ferhat Erol, Bursa Provincial Mufti Yavuz Selim Karabayır, the provincial Culture and Tourism Director Dr. Kamil Özer, the Yıldırım district governor, and other community leaders participated, emphasizing unity and the preservation of the historic ritual linked to the Ottoman-era spiritual figure Geyikli Baba.
