Bursa commemorates 700th anniversary with music composition awards

As part of celebrations for the 700th anniversary of Bursa’s conquest, the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism’s Fine Arts Directorate organized a "Turkish Music Vocal Works Composition Competition." Out of 350 submissions, a jury led by director Ömer Faruk Belviranlı selected seven compositions for awards. The award ceremony was held at the Ahmet Vefik Paşa Theatre Hall, where the winning piece – "Büzürk Frengi Fer Beste" in the Büzürk makam by composer Mustafa Eren Güzel – received the first‑place prize.

The ceremony was attended by local officials, including AK Party Bursa MP Emine Yavuz Gözgeç and Deputy Governor Rıza Gençoğlu, and the jury highlighted the event as a meaningful way to honor the city’s heritage while looking toward the future.
