Bursa Cooperatives Use Contract Farming to Secure Exports

In the Çeltikçi neighbourhood of Yenişehir district, Bursa, a local agricultural development cooperative implements a contract‑farming model. Farmers receive seeds, fertilizer, planting, harvesting and marketing services from the cooperative and only need to prepare their fields and apply irrigation. The arrangement guarantees a pre‑agreed price for beans, peas, corn and spinach, provides advance payments and eliminates market uncertainty for about 3,000 hectares of bean cultivation.

In nearby İnegöl, the Kulaca Tarımsal Kalkınma Kooperatifi, operating since 1976, produces pepper and tomato paste under the same contract model. It has signed an agreement to export 500 tonnes of pepper paste to the Netherlands, adding to its annual capacity of roughly 1,500 tonnes. The cooperative follows sustainable certification and traceability standards, allowing buyers to identify the producer of each batch.
